Run Log

A more up-to-date run log, along with archived data, can be found in here: https://mcgill-my.sharepoint.com/:f:/g/personal/dallas_wulf_mail_mcgill_ca/EuSVLnpTKkxFgwK9jEzk8GcBEUhuvEXb4KAUJ3pWnlZfag

Thoughout the testing phase, there will be many configuration changes. This is a place to record details about hardware, software, data, and measurement goals for each acquisition. Aquisitions are identified by their UT start time.

Date (UT): 2019-08-13

Start time (UT):

Stop time (UT) :

Zenith angle: 9.5° North

Source: Cas A

Hardware setup: East dish instrumented with cloverleaf feed; West dish with wideband feed. Polarization of wideband feed still swapped relative to east dish.

Software: Digital gains calculated at beginning of run. ADC snapshot written once every 10 seconds

Goals: Look for the saw-tooth feature that we have seen on previous acquisitions to check whether it's coming from the ICE board or not. Observe Cas A.

Start time (UT):

Stop time (UT) :

Zenith angle: 8.6° South

Source: Cyg A

Hardware setup: East dish instrumented with cloverleaf feed; West dish with wideband feed. Swapped polarization of wideband feed at feed SMAs. Attenuation set to ~3.5 bits RMS at ADC.

Software: Digital gains calculated at beginning of run. ADC snapshot written once every 10 seconds

Goals: Determine source of gain difference between polarizations of wideband feed (i.e. feed or analog electronics)

Date (UT): 2019-07-19

Start time (UT):

Stop time (UT) :

Zenith angle: 8.6° South

Source: Cyg A

Hardware setup: East dish instrumented with cloverleaf feed; West dish with wideband feed.

Software: Digital gains calculated at beginning of run. ADC snapshot written once every 10 seconds

Goals: Nominally identical to 2019-07-18 acquisition. Demonstrate repeatability

Date (UT): 2019-07-18

Start time (UT): 04:42:14

Stop time (UT) : 13:12:14

Zenith angle: 8.6° South

Source: Cyg A

Hardware setup: East dish instrumented with cloverleaf feed (input 0 = NE-SW pol, input 1 = NW-SE pol); West dish with wideband feed (input 2 = NE-SW pol, input 3 = NW-SE pol). Attenuation set to ~3.5 bits RMS at ADC.

Software: Digital gains calculated at beginning of run. ADC snapshot written once every 10 seconds

Goals: First test of both dishes end-to-end

Date (UT) : 2019-07-11

Start time (UT): 00:56:58

Stop time (UT): 14:13:43

Zenith angle: 8.6° South

Source: CygA

Hardware setup: Wideband feed on West dish, Clover feed on East dish. No amplification on East dish.

Software: Preliminary software (pre-update)

Goals: First light tests for wideband feed.

Comments: It seemed to work (we see a very broad and faint passage of Cyg A at the expected time) but better data will be taken when software update is completed. Will not change zenith angle before reliable, post software update data is taken.

Data: (will upload later)

Example

Date (UT): 2019-06-20

Start time (UT): 00:00:00

Stop time (UT): 23:59:59

Zenith angle: 8.6° South

Source: CygA

Hardware setup: East dish only, with cloverleaf feed

Software:

Goals: First-light test

Comments: Worked first time!

Data: link to attachment. We won't put the full aquisition on here for disk space reasons, but relevant subsets of data (e.g. source transits), reduced data, or plots are welcome
