---++April 26's Lab Noise Test

  • First thing is to reproduce plots, to see if everyone is on the same page.
    • The first thing is to plot all of the channels' data, centered on zero.
      • Matt binned these in packs of 50, I think. His plots can be found at http://bolo.berkeley.edu/internal/apexsz/apex_online_log/uploads/NA_noisetest-70rn_2006-04-26T00-32-0000_TS.pdf
      • You can find my postscript at ~ccohalan/plots/70%_step_noise_all_channels.ps. P-waifect. Except that Matt's lines look slimmer. Might it be because of his binning 50 timesteps together? Let's see!
      • Sure enough, if you bin by 50 (which means one point per 0.05 seconds) you get the plots found at ~ccohalan/plots/70%_50binned_all_channels.ps. I dare you to find a difference between these plots and Matt's.
    • Zooming into steps, here is what we get:
      • Ruediger's data is shown at http://bolo.berkeley.edu/internal/apexsz/apex_online_log/index.php/2006-05-25. The 12th and 13th plots are the ones I was trying to reproduce (the plots directly under "Lab Dumps").
      • After much looking around, I found that he was plotting channel A5. I plotted every .ac timestep of this channel and obatined the plots found at ~ccohalan/plots/70%_channelA5_step_nobin_ruediger.ps. It looks pretty much exactly the same. The oscillation is there, sure enough.
    • Finally, Ruediger plotted 6 particularly bad channels
