---++ Antenna Design

Optimization of the sleeve-dipole antenna feed designs were done using the 4nec2 antenna modeling software. More information and the results of this project can be found in the attached report.

Suitcase Interferometer - Overview

The suitcase interferometer consists of the following parts:

  • antenna feeds
  • ground plane assembly and mounting structure
  • analog chain
  • iceboard
  • python software running on a windows or linux computer
Python Software

Prerequisites and Dependancies:

Codebase: hosted on bitbucket under 'chime / ch_acq / griffin_dev' branch

Networking

The setup can be run with either a router or a DHCP server running on the local computer.

Tested on windows with 'DHCP Server for Windows' available at http://www.dhcpserver.de/cms/.

Designing the Analog Chain

Running Data Collection

The data collection notebooks are located under 'ch_acq / pychfpga / correlator_rx / notebooks'.

Currently, the following notebooks are available:

  • FirmwareCorrelator_DataCapture_LF_Windows when using the low frequency dipoles in the 0-400 MHz nyquist zone
  • FirmwareCorrelator_DataCapture_MF_Windows when using the mid frequency feeds in the 400-800 MHz nyquist zone
