---+The setup
Our mistake:
We reset one of the voltage outputs to power a small crate. We moved the fMUX crate before resetting to the correct voltage. This required unplugging the fMUX crate.
The result:
After fixing a blown fuse, which was probably related to the move, we had the 'plug and play error / power supply incompatable' error with an additional message of V8P low voltage.
What we think happened:
When the power was cut the power supply reset to a default value. The backplane however, kept the settings for power the small crate. The result was that the power set on the backplane was below the minimum value on the power supply. This produced our error with the V8P low voltage.
The solution
What we did:
Hold the Power and Mode toggles UP for 5 seconds to configure the power supply. At this point you need to know what the previous setting was, i.e. you need to know what the back plane wants the voltage to be. Reset your desired voltage and limits to include the backplane's desired voltage. We then pulled the power cable out, waited for the power supply to power down and then plug it back in. Now everything should work again. Reset the desired voltage to what you want and everything works.
How:
Press the Mode toggle UP or DOWN to toggle through all the top level list of things that you can change on the crate. Holding Power UP will select that thing to be modified. Now the Mode toggles through the various setting that you can change. For voltages there are output voltage ('Vnom'), currents, max and min limits for each etc. Holding Power UP will allow you to change the setting. Once you are done holding Power UP again will set it. If you don't want to set it hold Power DOWN to cancel. Holding Power DOWN will also get you back to the top level list or all the way out of the configuration menus.
Why:
We found that you can reconfigure everything even if the P&P error is flashing. You have to reset the power supply and then turn it off, however while P&P is flashing you can't turn off the power supply. This is why you have to pull the power cable again. Now when the power supply comes back up it will use the settings it had when it was powered down, which now agree with the the backplane's settings. It boots up fine and can be changed to whatever you want.
FYI
While you are reconfiguring the voltages you can set the IP, subnet Mask and Gateway to fit for your network. Now you can open up the webpage for the crate. user: 'private', password: 'private'. While you can't change anything here you can see which voltage channels are causing problems. They will be highlighted in red.
